The Baptist Sunday School held its annual picnic at Western View Farm Thursday of last week. The majority of the pupils motored up in a truck while others went with their parents and in hay wagons. An illustrated lecture on "Keeping Fit" was given to the boys in the afternoon. Games were indulged in and plenty of ice cream given free. As a closing feature all the children gathered in the large outbuilding where a piano was situated and sang the new national Negro hymn, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," the words of which were written by James Weldon Johnson and the music by J. Rosamond Johnson.
